Homework

Dear Parents,

Each child will have an English and a Mathematics ’10 Minute Challenge’ book. These books cover relevant content for Year 3 and will support work being done in the classroom in these two key subject areas. Each book contains a set of ‘workouts’ for each term and we will set one Mathematics ‘workout’ and one English ‘workout’ each week. Both will be due into school on Monday. We will support your child with areas they find challenging.

Homework expectations around spelling ~ the children will be set a list of 5 words initially, building up to 10 words to learn at home. We will practise them in school also. Aim to learn at least half with your child. Yellow book due in on Tuesday.

In addition, of course, pupils should still be reading regularly and writing comments in their reading records. We  will check these on a weekly basis (Friday). Pupils should also be learning and revising times tables at home.

Please support your child in ensuring that the books are looked after and that homework is completed and brought in to school on the appropriate day. This is good practice for high school, even if it seems a long way away!

If you have any questions regarding homework, please feel free to come and see us.

Best wishes,

Mrs Flynn and Mrs Smith
